What’s In a Name?

Why did I choose this name for my blog?

I’ve been trying to put that into words. I came across this quote from an unknown source awhile back. It has stuck with me.

“People who wonder if the glass is half empty

or half full miss the point. The glass is refillable.”

I wonder who said it first for it is profound. People often classify themselves as either an optimist or a pessimist based on how they see a half-full glass. But there is so much more to consider. Is it something you like to drink? Would it be good to have more? How big is the glass? Is it refillable?

And then my dear friend Jill sent me this illustration. She read this and thought of my blog. It’s from a children’s book entitled “The Boy, the Mole, The Fox, and the Horse” by Charlie Mackesy.

That’s a new perspective – I never thought about being grateful that there is a glass!

I hope to create content that will feed your soul with a tiny bit of nourishment. A piece of hope or something humorous to help with today. Maybe something to think about or ponder more deeply. And, much like the glass, I hope it will be refillable tomorrow and into the future.

*Thanks to my daughter Mary Frances for the title artwork

  1. What a simple, yet profound way to think about this. A new perspective in which to see the world! Let’s all just be grateful. I am super thankful for this post, right now, at this moment, exactly where we are. Excited to follow you on your journey and see where you will take your readers. Thanks, Kathleen!

PS I think I may need to go and find this book!
