Charlotte’s Update

This morning I asked for prayers for Becky’s PCICU friend, Charlotte.

A short while ago, I heard from Maggie. Charlotte’s surgery was successful.

Here’s a quick update on the day’s events. This chronology is taken from Maggie and Tim’s Caring Bridge site.

Maggie and Tim said goodbye to Charlotte at 11:45am and watched her wheeled off to the operating room for the fifth time. By 1:00pm, the surgeons had successfully transferred her from ECMO to by-pass. By 2:00pm, the surgeons had removed the clot that was blocking her pulmonary artery. They trialed her off the bypass machine but her right lung was not inflating well enough. Charlotte’s ENT doctor was called in off the bench to perform a bronchoscopy to remove some mucus plus in her lungs. Charlotte’s lung began inflating and she looked good enough to transition off ECMO. By 5:30pm, Maggie and Tim were back in Charlotte’s room and standing by her crib.

The PCICU team just finished an echo and Charlotte’s function looks good. Overall, the doctors and surgeons are happy with today’s outcome. Obviously, this little heart warrior has more battles to fight. But she conquered an unexpected and frightening surgery today. Maggie and Tim continue to ask for prayers as they feel those prayers surrounding them. My blog and phone have been lighting up all day and night. It’s a good thing you don’t pay by the emoji. Or the and would have had a banner day.

A friend sent me this picture of a Post-It note on her desk. A simple reminder to remember another person in a great hour of need.

Team Charlotte grew a whole lot bigger today.

  3. Yes her team of prayer warriors has grown. We prayed our family Rosary for her and her family today.

  4. We prayed for Becky’s friend, Charlotte! It is amazing that they are truly friends though they have never met. They enjoy this relationship through many people loving them and praying for them. They have both taught me much about love through their tiny hearts! Thank you, Charlotte and Becky. May you be friends forever.❤️❤️

  7. Oh what wonderful news. I prayed but especially at 3 pm ( she would have still been in surgery) during the chaplet of Divine Mercy on Relevant Radio. God is good🙏
