Hanukkah

Hanukkah 2021 begins tonight, the evening of Sunday, November 28. It ends on the evening of Monday, December 6.

Google reminded me of this today. Which reminded me of Johnny and his apparent love of the menorah.

I originally posted the story of Johnny’s Holiday Confusion back on December 3, 2020. It’s a favorite post of mine. Because it’s all Johnny.

And the post inspired several gifts in the subsequent months. My parents sent Johnny a menorah with colorful candles. My sister-in-law sent a book about the holiday. But my favorite was a bib someone put on our front porch.

While a Passover reference, it always makes me chuckle. And it serves as a serious reminder of the heritage of my own faith. A heritage that I have learned more and more about as I have listened to the Bible in a Year podcast, an absolute highlight of 2021 for me.

I guess God knows that humor works better at getting my attention.
