Beckygram: Safely Home

Mom and I returned home safely after 2,538.8 miles.

I think that .8 of a mile was the hardest.

We started in Illinois, traveled through Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, and ended up in Massachusetts. We kept track of the license plates of other cars with a nifty magnetic game from Aldi.

The only missing states are Alaska, Hawaii, Mississippi, Montana, North Dakota, and Washington, D.C. (which really doesn’t count). Oh, and Delaware. Seriously, no one lives in Delaware.

The driving in Boston is crazy. Mom says the drivers are fast but polite. The only time anyone honked a horn was when she ran a red light. Mom deserved that. The rotaries or round-abouts, were mind-boggling. At one point, Mom drove the wrong way into one and ended up in the center. Greta politely pointed this out but Mom snapped back that there are supposed to be plants in the center of the rotary. That’s a valid point.

My Mommo drove home with us and kept me well fed. She handed me bits of bread, cheese, and sausage as we cruised home. Apparently, I am an angel baby and made very little fuss despite logging long hours in my car seat.

It was a great trip, but I’m rather tired. So, I’ve asked my friend Pink Norman, to stand guard. And warn me if Mom comes in to snatch me for another road trip. I’m going to cover my ears and play possum.

While I take a very, very long nap.

  1. Looks like a happy ending for Greta there, and a happy beginning for grad school(? at Boston U?). It also looks like a happy ending for Becky.

  2. Dear Becky, glad you had a good trip, Your Mom inherited some Lynch genes (this time not from Jeannette)-from Great Aunt Barbara who back from 4 years in England drove on the wrong side of roads roundabouts!😱love, Great Aunt Cynthia❤️☘️

  3. Your momma is very brave! I’m so happy to hear you that you were an “Angel baby” on your long trip but that doesn’t surprise me!! You’ve always been an Angel that God sent for your Momma, Daddy, big brothers and sisters to cherish. Some day Great Aunt Jane will get to meet you. ❤️

  4. Becky,
Your trip with your Grandma Jeanette and your Mom reminded me of a trip I took with your Mom, my daughter, Chrissy and your Grandma many years ago to
Camp Juliette Lowe in Georgia! A memory I will always cherish!

    You’re always in our prayers!
    Love my Lynch Family!
