All the Shingle Ladies

I recently celebrated my 50th birthday.

Naturally, I headed to CVS for my shingles vaccine.

I had a serious case of chicken pox as a child, so I’m taking no chances of a dormant virus wreaking havoc on this middle-aged body. I know my older sister approves.

Yesterday, after putting Becky on the school bus, I grabbed my bag and left for some Fluid Running at the YMCA. There is nothing I love more than solitude and tunes in the water. I listen to everything from NF to George Strait to the Bee Gees. But sometimes I forget to turn on the Do Not Disturb feature on my phone. So I sent this selfie to respond to multiple of the kids that were looking for help. I wanted them to know why I was ignoring their calls. At least for the next 45 minutes.

Afterwards, I headed to CVS for a scheduled pharmacy appointment. I hadn’t seen Sam that morning, so I sent him a quick text.

Obviously, the auto correct feature replaced “shingles” with “singles”. Which made me giggle. After the shot was administered, I followed up with my favorite emoji and a comment.

And, perhaps for the first time in our 27 year, 3 month, and 9 day marriage, Sam responded with an emoji

  1. One good thing (and there are many) about being retired, is that Jon and I do almost everything together-like getting our “singles” shots at the same time. You and Sam have years to go, and shots to get!! love, Aunt Cynthia ❤️☘️❤️☘️❤️☘️
